At Dubai Airports, our commitment to social responsibility goes hand-in-hand with our ambition to be the world's leading international airport. We recognise that our success is intertwined with the well-being of our communities, guests, our employees, and the environment.
Social Responsibility is woven into the fabric of our operations. As a responsible corporate citizen and industry leader, we strive to create a positive impact on the lives of those we serve and work with through seamless connections and meaningful actions. We are committed to creating a positive impact that extends far beyond our airport gates, fostering a sustainable and thriving future for generations to come.
Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation working towards providing children and young people in developing countries with access to quality education through the design and funding of programmes that aim to be integrated, impactful, sustainable and scalable. Since 2010, donation boxes across Dubai Airports have collected hundreds of thousands of dirhams annually, contributing to improved primary education for children in 28 developing countries.
Through our collaboration with Dubai Autism Center, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all our guests. In 2022, DXB became the first airport in the world to receive the Autism-friendly certificate, a testament to our dedication to enhancing accessibility for people with hidden disabilities. We've introduced a range of services to elevate the travel experience for People of Determination (POD), including a pre-travel planner and an Autism Friendly Route, ensuring a smoother journey through check-in, passport control, security, and boarding.
We believe in the power of art to inspire and connect. Our partnership with Mawaheb is testament to this belief, supporting artists with special needs and showcasing their remarkable talent through exhibitions and events at our airports. We also encourage our employees to experience the transformative power of art firsthand. By joining Mawaheb's student artists for an inspiring day of collaboration, our teams create unique artworks that are proudly displayed in our office spaces.
As a dedicated partner of Orbis – the flying eye hospital - we proudly host their aircraft and raise awareness about their life-changing work in eye care, both locally and around the globe. Our commitment to Orbis dates back to 2016 when we launched the 'Your Sight, Our Happiness' campaign, raising with our partners AED 1.25 million through the UAE Red Crescent. This significant contribution has helped countless individuals regain their sight and improve their quality of life.
In the spirit of Ramadan, a time of generosity and reflection, we welcome our guests each year with warmth and hospitality by distributing 60,000 iftar boxes to arriving guests. In 2024, we launched specially designed iftar boxes featuring captivating glimpses of heritage Dubai, which was created by Moza Al Mheiri, a talented Emirati member of the Dubai Airports design team. This heartfelt tradition reflects our commitment to the community and ensures that everyone feels welcomed and nourished as they begin their journey with us.
We actively support a range of local and global initiatives, including government campaigns such as '1 Billion Meals Endowment', which aims to implement effective sustainable programmes to fight and eradicate hunger. We also support the 'Mothers Endowment', which aims to honour mothers in the UAE by establishing an AED 1 billion endowment fund to support the education of millions of individuals around the world, sustainably. We established a partnership with Al Jalila Foundation for breast cancer awareness. Additionally, we proudly sponsor the Travel Strand of the annual Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
